Gelukskinders and Nelson Mandela day (and more)

On the 18th of July, Gelukskinders celebrated Nelson Mandela Day by reaching out to Hessie! Rosi, Phemelo and Frieda helped to entertain the children, distribute oranges, apples and bananas, clean up in the playground and repaint the swings, slides and other equipment.

It was decided to celebrate this day in this way, because Nelson Mandela himself (born on July the 18th), fought for social justice for 67 years. Therefore, it was decreed that we should spend 67 minutes on Mandela’s birth date to reach out to someone in need, in whatever way possible. In the past few months regular work continues, as it should be. Gelukskinders thrives to continue it’s targets and it’s purposes. Each new playground will be given long term maintenance. With the number of playgrounds increasing the costs of maitenance grows too. Yearly costs for doing this already is the ammount of a new playground. With up to 15 playgrounds to be adopted in the future, you can already imagine how big the maintenancecosts will be. Gelukskinders keeps their promises and will prevale. No new playgrounds if maintenance isn’t guaranteed.

Example of three to be adopted playgrounds: Padulong, Nanogang and Chaobi

Netball tournaments. A big tournament is to happen in April 2025. Gelukskinders hopes that parties involved and much needed will continue to help to make these tournaments a huge success and an example to the rest of South-Africa. Gelukskinders thanks provincial government, netball association and North West University for their input and their massive help. We also thank our donors for making this all happen. Without you Gelukskinders would be nowhere. To fulfill Amira’s dreams for her foundation, Gelukskinders is always happy if new regular donors want to help Amira making lives of children in townships and rural area of South-Africa a bit happier and healthier. Every little bit helps. Please donate here: Donate – Gelukskinders Foundation
